Diary 221: Quarterly Review and Christmas Celebration Day

Yesterday I slept at around 2:00 am. Today I woke up at 7:20 am and realized that I would not be able to make it to office, so I decided to leave late for office. Sushma has planned some celebrations for Christmas and so I decided to go. I woke up finally at 10:00 am, and got ready for Office. I left home and reached office at around 12:15 pm. The office was decorated nicely with balloons and shiny ribbons. Anyways, today was quarterly review day and I was worried, mainly because of my office attendance thing. Well, as it turns out, I got 1 out of 5 in office attendance. Overall, I got 315 out of 500, which comes under the A rating. A+ is the highest that one can get. I was fine with the rating but when the bonus amount was disclosed, I was kind of shocked. It was only 8% , where the maximum was 15%. I was quiet and angry for some time, and diverted my attention by filling in the Visa form and all, but later Ankit himself asked me about the feedback as Rohit was also not happy with it. I showed him logically that it is wrong that I got only 8% of the bonus. He tried to convince me by saying that my review was the best and all, but I was not satisfied and not flattered. Anyways, finally Ankit informed Gil and he agreed to give me 10%. I didn't talk to Gil directly but I hope he understood the logical part and the alignment of the rating with the bonus. Even, by simple, unitary method the percentage bonus comes out to be 9.45. So, it was quite less. Later part of the day, I worked quietly and tried to take matter in my hands. The code generator project seemed to be in my hands now and so I decided to handle it now. After office, I came back home and worked on it further. After getting the necessary code from Rohit, I continued working and rectified his code to work alongside mine. I realized that I need to make my presence felt to cross the 400 mark. After from all this, we had lunch outside, we cut cake and drank sprite. I left office at 5:30 pm and reached home at 8:00 pm. I continued working and then went to Gym. Today was cardio day. I came back, had some food and then again started working. Later, I uploaded all the necessary files and wrote this diary. Also, yesterday I decided that I would sing Tu Ashiqui hai and Ashayein in the new year's party of our society. I even recorded a demo of ashayein and it turned out to be good enough. Now, I plan to watch TV episodes and then sleep by 3:00 am.

Diary 220: No Office and Relaxing Day

Yesterday I slept at around 2:30 am. Today I was planning to go to Office, but I realized that my health is not up to the mark, so I decided to skip the office. I sent a message to Ankit that time itself. I woke up finally at 9:00 am, as I had to go to CBD with my mom. I came back and started watching TV episodes. Pretty soon, I got a ping from Ankit who asked me about my comments on the code and asked me to work on it. Anyways, I started working on it, and solved the problem right away. I sent out the updated code and the result to Ankit and Mukund. After that, I relaxed and kept on watching the TV episodes. I had my lunch in between and after lunch, I slept till 6:00 pm. I kept on watching the TV episodes and then later went to gym. Today was cardio day. I returned home and took a bath. Then, I wrote this diary and now I plan to continue with the TV episodes and sleep by 2:00 am.

Diary 219: No Office and Updates Day

Well, I have been away from the Diary writing business for few days now. Mainly, because nothing very significant is happening, and so it becomes redundant to write about the same thing again and again. Today's post will contain updates about the last few days too.

The major highlights of the past 3-4 days are - meeting with divy, tanvi and dallas to watch the movie (MI-4, which was one hell of a movie), I finally accepted the fact that tanvi and rishabh are getting married and also booked tickets for the wedding, which is in Ludhiana, Punjab. Lately, I have been chatting with Shatabdi a lot, we just share random stuff with each other. Lastly, it was my cousin brother's birthday on 18th December.

Yesterday I don't know when I slept as I woke up suddenly at 6:00 am, and realized that the lights are on. Anyways, I finally woke up at around 10:15 am. I went online and realized that no-one is in office yet. The internet was not working yesterday, and so I decided not to go today. I started watching TV episodes and playing solitaire. Most of the day went like this. Later, I went to gym. Today was work out day. I came back, took a bath and then wrote this diary. I plan to watch TV episodes and then sleep by 2:00 am.

Diary 218: Office and Java Day

Yesterday I slept at around 3:00 am. I woke up at 7:00 am, and got ready for office. I left for office at around 7:35 am, and reached office at around 9:20 am. I had some work but I decided to work on the Expert level problem. I was even thinking about the logic while travelling. So, I started with it and finally by mid-day, I was able to build a not-so-good algorithm based code. It passed 6 out of the required 10 test cases. So, my score was just 36 out of 100. Anyways, on another front, I started filling the Visa form with pencil. I tried to work on the schema analyzer thing but I was too lazy to try it again and again. It was too messed up. After random time pass in Office, I left for home at 5:20 pm. I was supposed to board the direct 6:15 train, but decided to track the more optimum way. So, I had to change the train three times and I arrived at CBD at 7:20 pm. I reached home, and realized that Alok had scored very high (99.34) in the Easy level, so I tried to catch up and I ended up just short of him (98.74). But, I was more concerned about the Medium level, because I was not able to figure out the missing test cases. Anyways, I went to gym. Today was work out day. I came back, watched TV and then had a bath. Also, today I got my reebok watch delivered, but I realized that it is not the watch that they said they would send. Also, the battery is dead and the back cover is old. I mailed 100bestbuy immediately and I am waiting for the reply. Later, I wrote this diary and now I plan to restart my laptop which has not been shut down since 2-3 weeks may be. I plan to sleep by 2:30 am.

Diary 217: No office and JAVA day

Yesterday I slept at around 3:00 am. I was chatting with Shatabdi for a long time and also coding in JAVA. Yes, as surprising it may seem, I was taking part in a contest hosted by techgig.com. Well, I had no prior intentions but as soon as I looked into the problem hosted in the Easy level, I jumped onto it. I solved it and submitted the solution. Out of the 10 test cases, it was able to pass 9. I don't know which test case failed. Anyways, all this helped me to get over the fact that Rishabh and Tanvi are getting married. I woke up today at around 7:45 am, and decided that I will not go to Office today. And surprisingly, Dad's office car met with an accident on the way here, and so even Dad had to go by some other means. Accident was medium in severity. Anyways, given that I solved the easy level, I moved on to the medium level. Well, the question was tricky this time, but I still moved on with the coding. At one point, I was stuck with the algorithm, but pretty soon I found my way out of it. In between, I also watched movies to keep my mind fresh and also not to get bogged down by too much thinking about it. Finally, after a day of ups and downs, I was able to crack it. I felt very happy about it. I was in seventh heaven. I realized that my present job challenges have contributed largely to this. Anyways, I went to the gym. Today was cardio day. I came back, had a bath and then wrote this diary. I tried another approach (String Tokenizer) in the easy level question but my marks got reduced so I re-submitted the old one. Anyways, now I plan to complete some movie and sleep by 2:00 am.
